Cost Share Progams:

The Sierra SWCD has incorporated three different financial cost-share programs into their conservation efforts.

Rangeland/cropland Cost-share

Applicants must be involved in an agriculture enterprises and intend to install a conservation practice that can enhance those efforts. The SWCD will provide a maximum of $5,000 towards the installation of the practice or 50% of the cost, based on a cost-docket of conservation practices developed by the Sierra SWCD. Applications are reviewed annually and members of the Sierra SWCD will determine who is approved. Practices are designed to meet NRCS standards and specifications and upon completion, the practice will be met to determine if it meets those requirements.

The Sierra SWCD also has a low-interest loan program to install conservation practices on cropland. This is funded through the Interstate Streams Commission. Producers make annual payments but must secure the loan with a real estate mortgage

With recent mandates in place from the Office of the State Engineer, the Sierra SWCD has imitated a new loan program to facilitate the installation of irrigation well meters. Producers would secure the loan with the well meter itself.
