With grant funding from NM State Forestry Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources and NMDA, Sierra SWCD is excited to expand our existing Noxious Weeds Program starting July 1, 2024.
Legally, a noxious weed is any plant designated by a Federal, State or county government as injurious to public health, agriculture, recreation, wildlife or property.
Below are "WANTED: Dead Not Alive" posters highlighting noxious weeds that are a threat to lands in Sierra's District. Please be on the lookout for these "felons"! If you see them on lands that you own or lease, call our office or fill out the application below.
Once an application is submitted to our office, we will confirm whether or not the plant identified is a NM State Listed Noxious Weed species. List can be found here: noxious-weed-memo-and-list-june-2020.pdf . Applications will be ranked using a designated point system, and noxious weed infestations will be treated by Sierra SWCD or their contractor using the appropriate, selective herbicide.
