Sierra Soil & Water Conservation District

About

Sierra Soil & Water Conservation District (SSWCD) is a governmental subdivision of the state of New Mexico organized under state law (Chapter 73, Article 20) to (1) control and prevent soil erosion; (2) prevent floodwater and sediment damage; (3) further the conservation, development, beneficial application and proper disposal of water; (4) promote the use of impounded water for recreation.

Serving the citizens of our district, we take available technical, financial, and educational resources, whatever their source, and focus or coordinate them so that they meet the needs of local land users.
